She stayed in bed
I was born there
she said
no use getting out
i'll play in my head
Someday I will die
The knowledge of this
makes me want to cry
and when I dream
I go so high
but when I wake
I cannot fly,
Everyone I love
Just says goodbye
so I
Wrestle the sheets
and
stare at the ceiling
Come up with questions
and
ponder their meanings
Wonder about space
and
what is above it
She climbs the walls
and
Thinks that she loves it

Let's Get Stoned

I am having a mad love right now for labradorite. This stone is pretty, pretty. My favorite necklace was lost a few years ago while romping in the park ( will not go into detail about that...)
and I was in sad mourning. However labradorite has now made an entrance back into my life again. I am in the process of creating for myself a sweet necklace as a birthday present, A lady has to gift herself .
Metaphysical Stone properties : This shimmering stone encourages patience; it assists in changes, attracting strength and perseverance. The energy of labradorite helps transformaion of intuition into action helping you put your thoughts into deeds. It is a true celestial stone, symbolizing the moon - helping you to advance and a stone of the sun - giving you vitality for your "self" during transitions" via
Truly beautiful.

Saturday night People Party
Last night I debuted my jewelry and headbands at the People Party in Oakland. It was fun, fun, fun. Lots of great energy and invaluable feedback. I met some really wonderful people and danced to great music.
BTW - excuse my camera. It sucks bad.
My turquoise Lotus piece is in here. I ended up selling it. It was hard to part with that one. I brought it really just to show it but part of making things is the ability to let go of what you love. Imagine if I kept every piece I liked. I would actually end up keeping everything.
My headbands. These brocade ones are new and turned out really pretty. I am excited about these.
The earboard, and a my personal favorite , the Opalite tassel necklace. I may have to keep that one.
Dorky self-portrait time
My mom would be happy. My brother here helping me.
They make it pretty and feed you. MMMMMMM.
Rocking it eyepatch style!!
She bought the iredescent one. My favorite sparkle band!!
Could this girl be more adorable ??

Inspirational

NYT
"People wouldn't know this about me, but I adore ball gowns," she said. " I love their cut, their architecture and the thought of the hands of so many seamstresses working on them."
Patti Smith, The wonderful goddess of word and rebellion, photographed for the New York Times wearing a Dior ballgown. I have to say she looks better in this than any models I have seen of late.
She is the awesomeness and THIS is inspiration.

Awesome

1000 awesomethings
I love this site. but especially because I love this post: #565 moving forward and moving on.
The site is a celebration of the small victories and little things that happen throughout your day that may go unnoticed, or seem small but really make you happy and make life worth it.
In her most recent post she shares the truth we all know : sometimes life sucks. The great part is that even with and sometimes because of these things we can gain so much more than we lose and we keep going and life gets good, but only if you let it.
Anyway the site should speak for itself so check it out and I will add something awesome to the list, the reminders that we are not alone at all. We all go through the same things and there really is a silver lining to all storm clouds , you just have to keep looking and believe. Life is waiting for all of us, we just have to meet it halfway.

These Boots Are Made For.....
I've had these boots since 1992. yes that totally dates me, I am a grown lady. Anyway. I have actually not worn them since 1992 making them pretty mint. They are a really lush suede from Sam and Libby. For those of you who remember, yup they were great. For those who don't, it was Sam Edelman's original shoe company, way popular inthe 80's and 90's.
I was thinking about selling them, then I put them on this morning. I have noticed that most people wear thigh high boots with short skirts or over pants. That look doesn't work for me. When I put them on this morning I was wearing a skirt that went past my knees and I realized that this worked for me quite well. Thigh high boots with long skirts. The length of the boot actually creates a nice drape and the look of the skirt against the rich suede texture is divine.
I'm keeping them.

A Month without shopping
I am a Catholic girl. Once you are in that club you are stuck for life, one way or another. Yesterday was the first day of Lent and for Lent you give up something that you would normally do in order to cultivate discipline and to understand sacrifice. Last year I gave up eating meat, and I am happy to say that change has stuck with me. It was and is one of the best things I have ever done and I feel better , spiritually and physically, for it. This year I am quitting shopping. I am not allowing myself to buy any clothes, accessories, or shoes until after Easter. That may seem easy to some but I am a shopping expert. I tend to score unbelievable deals everywhere and since I rarely drink and don't indulge in drugs or promiscuity, it's my vice of choice.
The sadness really hit when this morning I got an e-mail with H&M's Sonia Rykiel collection. I forgot about this. I usually hate the mass market stores but Sonia for H&M is too good to pass up.Those platforms, I need them!! and the striped tights...STRIPED TIGHTS!!!! uggghhhh!!
This is going to be a very long 45 days

Happy Valentine's Day!!!

Recovering from my usual day of hiding under the bed. But seriously I made myself a romantic dinner of corn, cabbage and potato soup and watched " A Very Long Engagement " with Audrey Tatou, who is incredibly adorable. A very, very good movie. Highly enjoyable and being the weepy baby I am it made me want to cry.
I hope everyone had a wonderful day to reflect on love, in all it's forms.

simple things
i have a thing for doors. I think it has to do with openings and undending curiousity. What's on the other side ?
the pictures here were taken by me one rainy afternoon. I wandered into a garage. An empty space that was damp and dark and also at the same time had a beautiful light pouring in.
Here's the thing - I am grateful for everything, the good and the bad. The light and the dark. It's true that you can learn from everything. I am constantly amazed at what every situation teaches me. Sometimes, actually most of the time, I find it annoying . I frequently say " hey life give me a break, another lesson ?? really ??" Yup another one. Thank you life, I am grateful!

For A.

Sometimes I make a list in my head of designers I would love to sew for, with, or whatever. At the top for me is John Galliano and the second, Alexander McQueen. Alexander McQueen comitted suicide. This always disturbs me more than just dying. Mostly because I think we all know what it is to be depressed. To feel that we are at some rank edge where nothing will feel good again. People die, it happens all the time, it will happen to everyone. Sometimes it's just way too soon and too sad.
I get it
Sometimes
life
can be so
empty
and crushing
count yourself lucky
that
you
can see things
like
birds playing
and
chuckle
ridiculously
mumbling to
yourself
frown to smile
smile to
frown
mumbling
